Just a place for my old thoughts

Just not getting into it.

You know, since coming back from holidays in Europe I have just not been able to get back into work. I seem to spend my time going from one thing to the next without any real sense of excitement for what I am doing. I'm hoping that a good long break over Christmas will help me to refocus on what I am doing and reenergise me for the coming year. Work has been pretty stressful this year with the GFC and the measures being taken to address that. Then again, perhaps after 20 years with the same Firm it is time to look for greener pastures.

On the domestic front Deb and I have been looking into investment properties and what is required. We have a goodly amount of equity tied up in our house so it would be good to be able to put that to work for the benefit of our retirement.

Our Raffi cat still has her whole but is not looking like slowing down at all. The wound is healing slowly but I do wish she would calm down and relax which will help in the healing process.

And tomorrow is Christmas lunch with Mum and the family. Should be a great day although it is going to be early and it is going to be long in order to get everything done. I wasn't able to take today off work to prepare and we had already booked to go out tonight so everything has to happen tomorrow. I am a glutton for punishment though, rather than buying commercial chickens for lunch I'm gonna wake up and bake them at home. Yes, I am an idiot!

Dentists, kittehs and christmas

Well, after a period of WAY TOO LONG I went to see a dentist today. And other than a good clean there was absolutely no problems! F'ing Whoot!

So after one more cleaning I will be sweet and off the hook for the next six months. No fillings, no extractions, it all looked good. And I was packing it!

On the upside Deb bribed me with the promise of getting a touchscreen media PC for the kitchen. Yes, that will mean that the house has 5 PCs running for two people but they are all nessasary, really they are.

Onto the kittehs and the story of Ms Raffi and Mr Furrg. Against Janet's best assurances we have not yet found them locked in a loving embrace sharing a deep and kindred moment. No, Furrg still hisses at her and Raffi says she would really like to lick the big cat. Not a great combo. Raffi is pretty good though as long as she gets her own way. She is content to hang around the house and play with her toys. But lock her up for the night when she is not ready and she not ownly howls like a dying rabbit she is able to climb a six foot high flyscreen and drop down the other side. We still love her though...because she is so CWOOT!!!

Any we have finally found a day to catch up with Mum, JT and Wayne that fits with all our families. With weekends filling up fast we have a date locked and Deb and I are starting to build the basis for a Christmas lunch.

Kittehs and coughs

Well, I have been working from home for the last two days with a head cold. I was hoping to relax but spent most of my time on telephone conferences. The rest of my time was spent taking care of little Raffi.

She is certainly a bundle of energy who rockets around for about 30 minutes and then falls over and recharges (aka sleeps) for 10 minutes then pops up and rockets around again.

But she is very very cwoot. Check out the Dancam page for a few of the quieter moments.

She's so cwoot!

Yes, the word 'cwoot' has entered the Alvers household. Raffi has managed to transcend mere 'cute' and to rise to the lofty heights of kittenhood. No one can look into her little eyes and not utter the words "She's so cwoot!".

I have expressly promised that I won't steal her heart away from Deb so I have tried to stay away during play time. I have tried to only play with her when Deb is busy. But she IS SO GOD DAMN CWOOT!!!

Who is going to protect my heart from being stolen away by Raffi.

Pumpkins

But I was really pleased with how my first ever pumpkin carving turned out. I did a little research on the web to find out techniques and managed to do this.

Only problem was that halfway through the night my pumpkin drew the attention of the party and ended up being turned into a mask. I suppose I should feel flattered. None of the other pumpkins got the same honor.

And no more makeup

I was really undecided about my costume this year and only really kicked into action on the Wednesday night before to put together the prosthetics.

It covered the better part of my face, was not very comfortable and made eating and drinking really tough. And some makeup that I needed to blend the edges didn't arrive so it never really worked properly.

Oh well. Something simple next year...with no makeup.

An official welcome

Well, it falls to me to officially welcome Raffaella to the house hold. (I have no idea if that is how you spell it but I'll go with it for the moment.)

We are shortening it to Raffi although Little Blue still seems very fitting. So far she has settled in very well and is enjoying the spare bedroom.

Furrg has been pretty good and thinks that if she stays in the bedroom forever that will suit him perfectly.

Another successful Halloween party

Well back at work and Deb is in the car making the long journey back with Raffaella (aka Blueberry) in tow. I spoke to her last night in Victoria and the physical pain you could hear in her voice at the thought of having to drive back simply broke my heart. I just wished there was something that I could do to make it easier for her but unfortunately there isn't anything but to just do it again.

The Halloween party on Saturday night was a blast with a great time had by all. I will have to get a few pictures posted from the camera. Everyone put in a great effort with costumes and a good time was had by all. I have to say that I am not doing latex next year because it was just such a pain to do.

Oh, and looks like my Hotmail account got hijacked and some SPAM sent out. I've changed my passwords *AGAIN* and will run every anti-virus scanner I have across my home machine tonight. Gees this p's me off!
