Man is it raining here

Eeep and I are going to start constructing an ark if this keeps up. For basically two days it has been raining hard enough that it can disturb your sleep.

I have been very very lucky and been able to work from home both days. Deb on the other hand has had to walk the length of the city twice a day in torrential down pour.

At this rate the dams will be at 100% in no time at all.

Oh I definitely drank too much

Another full on weekend comes to a close and I can definitely say that I am looking forward to doing absolutely nothing next weekend.

Friday night we headed down to the local sushi train and then just watched a DVD. Saturday was clean the house day so we got the floors and kitchen done and then headed out for groceries. Serena was coming over that night and we were all heading over to the Powerhouse to see Women in Docs who were playing Saturday night. Supposedly they were using the gig to record some live music but the sound mix didn't seem very good so I am honestly not sure if it was set for recording or the gig. Hard to tell really.

Well, Deb cooked Mediterranean Chicken which was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately due to timing we had to wolf it down and dash out the door to the concert. All turned out fine in the end and we had time to sit and have a drink before it started.

Sunday Libbette came over and the four of us headed over to Anita & Simon's for a wine luncheon. It was to showcase Diggers Bluff wines. Well the weather was perfect, the wines were great and the food well matched.

The killer was that we hung around afterwards because they had a vertical tasting of two of the wines. I have to say that I definitely overindulged and am looking forward to a bowl of nourishing soup and an early night tonight.

Anyway, take a look at a few of the photos I took before I had drunk too much and thought that macro shots of wine glasses was a good idea.

Have I gone too far?

Ok, we all go shopping and we all make lists. But as you, my dear reader would understand, I have a particular love of technology.

Now, Deb and I both have Internet enabled phones via my Blackberry and her iPhone. So paper based shopping lists just seemed so...old fashioned.

So I did a little research and a little programming and... ... I came up with the online shopping list.

I think it will work pretty well actually. Would you use an online list if you could? Or have I gone too far?

The results are in...

Drum roll please. The results from the fun run have been posted and it shows Deb ran the 4Km run in 27:12 and I did it in 27:18.

Yes, Deb beat my be 6 seconds. It could have been 6 hours really because I had nothing left and was never going to catch her even if I had a pair of roller skates and a jet pack.

Nice work!

Oh I don't know, I think the jet pack might have worked...

I hurt all over

Well that completes the Mothers Day Classic fun run for another year.

Deb came in first with Me, JT and Jason hot on her heals. Given that everyone except for me this year was sick we did very well. We certainly set a cracking pace for ourselves and all managed to come home under 30 minutes which is pretty sweet.

We were planning to have a Mothers Day lunch at JTs but with everyone a little under the weather Mum thought it best not to risk getting together until everyone is feeling better. Now we just have to find a free weekend between now and next year.

Not doing lunch did free Deb and I to head up to Redcliffe for lunch. As expected we had no hope of getting into Morgans for seafood but we did end up back at Shorncliffe which was absolutely lovely. Then home with a little seafood and a fairly early dinner.

I should mentioned that Friday was Serena's birthday so we headed back down to David's off Oxford for dinner. I tell you, David creates this amazing atmosphere for personal service the way he personally explains the menu. We also had a bottle of Melton Pinot Hermitage and Rockford Basket Press. Both were well worth it.

All up a lovely weekend. Now check out the MDC 2009 pictures.

I like long weekends

Saturday we made an early run for Serena's place which worked out really well because the trip was only 1.5hrs. That is one of the fastest trips to Yaroomba I have ever made. (At legal speeds anyway...)

We then headed up to Noosa for a light lunch, a little shopping and then back to the house to start cooking paella.

Serena is getting new decks added to the house so it was quite a strange feeling being in the house but not being able to access the decks which are only in the early stages of construction.

Deb also found out Sunday morning that her Mum had taken a bad fall and had broken her wrist. Chris is taking care of everything in Adelaide but I think Deb was feeling a little helpless at not being there to help out. Luckily the operation to fix Majorie's wrist went very well and she was back home the next day.

Monday we spent the day in domestitude as Deb hemmed and washed the curtains. The pussycats just hung around the house happy to have us home I think.

I was supposed to go for a run at some point on the weekend but never really felt like it. Deb has done much better than me and got up at 5:30 this morning for a 5k run. Then we hear from JT via Facebook that she has come down with a cold and is feeling crap. So her attendance at the fun run this weekend might be in question.

Whoa! It works. Last night fuelled by a very good indian dinner and a bottle of wine I resigned myself to giving the NIA headset another go and guess what? It works.

The previous unit must have been faulty because within a very short period of time I had it calibrated and was playing pong. Very cool.

We have reached a steady state of Geekness

I should start by saying that I got my new laptop at work the other day. The normal process is that they do a 'behind the scenes' transfer of data from your current PC to the new one and then you just have to drop in for a quick spit and polish and the new PC is all yours.

Well, my old PC is so screwed as a result of me fiddling around with it over the last two years that it was a complete mess. Instead of going through the normal rollout process I just copied my working files up to the network, dropped them onto may new laptop and handed over the old one. Since then I have just had to make a couple of tweaks and all was fairly good. The only bit missing was the finger print scanner to login which I finally got working this morning. Sweet, I have now reached a steady state of Geekness.

Oh, and my replacement NIA headset has arrived. I should explain that weeks ago I found a reference on the web to a device that allows you to control a computer with your mind. Unfortunately the actual device left a lot to be desired and really didn't work so I gave up and sent it back to the US manufacturer for review.

So today my new headset has arrived. I am torn on if I actualy do try to get it to work (last time was extremely frustrating) or if I just leave it in the box for a slow day.

Hmmm...
