Just a place for my old thoughts

Let it rain

Wh00t! We have our rain water tank installed. As I mentioned it was funny that the installation was delayed last week because it rained. Oh well.

Well it has been a week at home waiting for tradespeople. Ironically this week we were supposed to finally get our watertank connected but they can't install it when it is raining. So after months of very dry weather it has been raining pretty solid for over a week while my tank sits unconnected on the front lawn. Not fair really.

On the plus side we have our wardrobes being installed today. It is making one hell of a racket and they need to leave the doors open which is making it rather chilly.

It looks like they will be finished fairly late this afternoon. Then we need to get all the installation holes filled and the whole thing painted. Expect a call Wayne!

And the geeks shall inherit the world. Yes, that is right I am attending a computer conference and it is full of geeks. Actually I am not sure that I am a pure enough gveek anymore. The guys that I am with generally want to be in bed by 10:30 and only seem to drink softdrink.

Last night was a cocktail party and my crew went back to the hotel for dinner and an early night HELLO! Tonight is the big party which is being held at Movieworld so I have been working hard to get the guys revved up and ready to go.

Oh well, I guess I should get back to being a geek.

Looks like a geek shortage. Who was the presenter? Must have been boring...or doughnuts must have been out.

And yes, it's DOUGHNUTS, not donuts until we elect a president and you stick the stars and stripes on a flag pole in your front room.

Also your cat has decided to get into the house via the scaffolding and the study window. He can't explain the blood on the lattice outside our bedroom window either.

Ouch, one post a month

Well, we still have boxed laying around the house but the unpacking has slowed down quite a bit. We seem to have got in, made the place livable and sort of stopped at that point. Then again I think the rest has been well deserved.

Things are really starting to come together too. The bathroom is finally finished with the frame-less shower screen fully installed and glazed. And the best bit is that the shower is not too small, which was a fear of ours at the time. It feels generous and has plenty of space to splash around and generally do shower type stuff. The dual basis rock as well although we still only have one bathmat for some reason so we fine ourselves huddled on that.

Wayne is doing an awesome job on the outside of the house. The colours are really working out and as the green vanishes the blue we have picked is really starting to shine out. A couple more weeks and we will have the house fully painted. It was also great to have both Dad and Wayne working on the house this week. I was home sick with a head cold but kept going out to chat to them. I definitely have to get over to Dad's again in the next week or so.

Deb has started her new job which seems to be going well except that getting there and away is a right pain in the butt. The public transport 'sort of' lines up but it is taking her over an hour to get home each night.

Other than that I am still in love with the location. We went out on the weekend to do a little shopping and pulled into Riverbend Books for lunch. A nice bottle of wine, lunch and the sunshine. We ended up having to swap tables because it was too hot! Winter?!? What winter? Oh I am loving the Brisbane weather.

On that point we now 'have' a rain water tank. It just isn't plumbed into anything. Doesn't really matter though because it certainly isn't raining. We're not wasting any rain at least.

On the World of Warcraft front Deb has not been playing since after we came to Brisbane and I have found my time split on just 'doing things'. Unfortunately the time commitment for WoW can really cut into your productive time. On top of that I have been having an argument with my in-game guild regarding being allowed to play my character the way I want. It has ended up with me having to 'take a break' because it was making me angry and frustrated. I had a bit of an indirect stoush with my in game group leader which ended up resulting in a call on no confidence and a vote for leader. So either he is going to get back in, in which case I will be screwed, or Serena's character will get voted in. If Serena gets in then I will at least have support in putting forward my case to be allowed to run group battles with my guild. Otherwise I might as well hang-up my headset because it will all be over. Does that sound sad that I am blogging about the politics in a game?

On the human side we met up with two people that we play with online at the Brisbane casino last weekend. Unfortunately I was not feeling too well so headed home early but it was fun to meet these people for real. Besides the fact that 'Wang' is one of the funniest people around.

Nights have been taken up either playing WoW or watching Stargate SG:1 episodes. We are up to season 3 of a 10 year series so as you can imagine we have some catching up to do.

The pussycats are well with Cleo doing very well on her new medication. She shows no signs of slowing down and had the appetite of a lion. Mr Furrgus really seems to enjoy the new house and is as sooky as ever.

Ok, now I have to go and try to do something productive.
