Just a place for my old thoughts

Welcome to sunny Brisbane

Well the house is a mess with boxes still to be unpacked but we have finally arrived in Brisbane and I have broadband setup and running.

For the moment I am using a free webservice for the site but the recipes and feedback are currently broken. I hope to have them setup very soon. The pictures on the site need to be redirected so that may take a little while to get all that setup.

So, generally speaking everything is a mess but we are working to restore normal transmission.

Oh, and Merry Christmas to you as well.

And no further correspondence will be entered into...

Don't you hate it when you fill a box and the last thing just won't fit in. We tried squishing it down but just could not get the top shut.

Yes, as you can see Cleo has been a great help in the packing process. Fortunately Serena has been slaving away and, between her and Deb, making me look rather slack.

Saturday night we have a few friends around for a 'House Cooling' which was a lot of fun. Unfortunately it left me feeling a little worst for wear. Add to that the 37degree temps in the garage when we where packing the wine cellar and I thought I was going to barf.

So we have a couple of days to finish the packing and then we set off on our adventure to Queensland. Whoa!

This will be the last post for some time from this site because we are transfering it to a new ISP in Queensland. I have tried to set up a temp site but we will have to see if the transfer works or not.

Till then, goodbye and thanks to everyone who has been apart of our Melbourne lives...Welcome to Brisbane!!!

So, where was I?

(DJ the freaked out.)

Last Friday and Saturday we were in Brisbane trying to find a place to rent. Serena had scoped out the various suburbs and had lots of recommendations about places and areas. The first place we put an offer in fell through which was a complete bummer. It was small but very very cool.

So we ended up in Bulimba and found a nice place very close to the main cafe and bar strip. It should be absolutely awesome. As fate would have it we got a call from another place we were interested in first and we had to string them along for almost a day until we heard from the Bulimba property.

We are still waiting for the lease details to be faxed through but I have faith that it will happen eventually. To be honest if it wasn't for the fact that I was really wrapped in the location I would have told the company to get stuffed (The are that slack)

So, I have one more week at work. The removalists arrive on the 12th of Dec and we drive out on the 13th of Dec.

As always I am still very very freaked out.

Freaked out..yeah it's a big move. But soon you and Deb can watch real footy, and eat real seafood, and feel real heat/humidity, and drink real wine...ahh scratch that last one, our wines are still sh!t compared to yours, but you can visit our wineries with thongs on. If they're double pluggers your considered rich. :)

Double Pluggers, noun, also referred to as double-plugger thongs. Thongs is the Australian term for loose, 'flip-flop' style sandals made of rubber or leather. Double-plugger thongs have an extra plug on either side where the thong (strap) attaches to the sole.

Actually, the removalists arrive on the 13th...but we may still drive out on late on the 13th as they will have taken our bed. And everything else for that matter.
