Good morning and a very Merry Christmas from us to you. In a very little while we'll pickup Deb's brother Chris and then the present opening can start. Whoo Hooo!!!

So far the holidays have been lot'sa beer, wine and food. Oh, how I love Christmas. In honour of the Alvers clan we had chicken and coleslaw last night for dinner. I think I ate my own body weight.

Anyway, just a very quick post to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We hope you have a fantastic day!!!

Well I am finally sitting at the airport waiting for my flight. I seemed to be running well and truly ahead of time this morning, which isn't a bad thing really. I leapt out of bed at 6am and then basically had to burn 30 minutes before my shower so that I didn't have the cats boxed up too early.

The trip to the cattery only took about 12 minutes so when I arrived there as no one there. I had to wait for 30 minutes for someone to turn up.

Then I had tons of time to sit around the house and take it easy before I had to call for a cab. All in all it was a very smooth exit. (I still feel really guilty for dropping the cats off, they looked so betrayed when I put them in their cages for the trip. [sigh])

So here I am sitting at the airport waiting for my flight. I managed to wangle an EVDO card so I have high speed wireless broadband access for the Xmas break WOOHOO! Actually I really want to put some work into my YLT stuff for the next conference so it isn't all just for play.

My flight is in about 40 minutes so it must be time for another quick beer for the flight.

One more day...

Well my days of bacheloring are nearly over. I fly out for Adelaide tommorrow and can then spend the holidays relaxing and just kicking back. Just about everyone at work is completely over this year. My boss has given us the afternoon off today, we get to finish at 2pm, and he isn't even coming in today.

I *think* I am just about ready to go to Adelaide. I have got the pool chemincally balanced and ready. I have washed everything in the house and I have been keeping the cats locked in until I leave to get them used to not leaving straight after breakfast.

If all goes well by this time tomorrow I will be packed, have the cats fed and be looking to box them for a trip to the cattery. I can't wait...

Check out the Show & Tell section to see the Christmas tree over in Adelaide. Deb has been struggling to get files loaded onto her Mum's PC for upload.

And thanks to Brenden for the note in the Guest Book. Nice to know your still watching.

Well, a very quick update for a very small change. I got bored of the site's logo so I changed it.

Hope you like...

I did you shadowcat logo as well. I quite like the new clean lines of the updated style. Having said that I'm not convinced that I have the right font but hey, it kept me a amused.

I like it (once I finally got it to load), but it looks a bit small...

C'mon Christmas

Well we are on the home run to Christmas. On the weekend, despite the wildest variation in weather I have seen for a while, I got the following done:

1. Mowed the lawn
2. Got the pool tested and balanced
3. Washed tons of clothing
4. Pruned a tree that is threatening to drop seeds into the pool

I actually tried to stay away from 'World of Warcraft' because I knew that if I started I wouldn't stop.

And one final note. I was doing a little web surfing today and came across this rather weird but fun site My cat hates you do what I did and waste some time poking around.

C'mon Christmas

It's time for all of us to get into practice for Christmas. Everyone repeat after me...

GIMME! GIMME! GIMME! GIMME! GIMME!

I can't wait for Christmas. As mentioned Deb and I are going to head over to Adelaide. So it is going to be two weeks of food, beer and presents. Yayyeee!!

On the home front I had to return the headphones that I purchased because they had the stereo (Left - Right) reversed. It made music sound a little weird but made playing World of Warcraft just about impossible. Hey, did you hear that? It sounds like it is coming from over there. Wait a second, what's beating me up on the other side!

I have finished my Christmas shopping, again. I thought I had it nailed but I had an idea after talking to Deb so I had to get one more thing. I obviously can't mention it here but I can say that I am really really finished.

The site has been honored with a post from the very nice people at Spirit House in the guest book. It would appear that one of our posts in the past had a link to their site and they tracked back and found our site. How cool is that!

And finally, before I finish off, you have to checkout the Show and Tell section. Wayne has put up a couple of awesome photos of his trip to Morton Island. I would love to get a fullsize version of the storm one for my desktop.

I'm going to spend all day trying to figure out what I said now :(.

Repeat after me: The internet is for...oh, sorry, you haven't all seen the film clip. Does this box support html? O well, here goes.

The internet is for...

Geeking to the edge

I'm sitting in the supermarket typing this. I had to buy an expresso to use the terminal but that seems fair to me.

I have now *really* finished my christmas shopping with the last thing that I needed for Deb. I am also feeling a little guilty because I brought myself a set of computer headphones and a usb hub. I've been bad. At this rate I won't get a christmas present because I would have already brought everything I could want. Oh well.

Any how scary is this, I just re-registered the ALVERS.INFO domain name for another two years. That means we have been going for almost thre years. It will be happy birthday site next Feb. Woohoo!!

Pity the headphones were a complete dud, isn't it?
