Just a place for my old thoughts

When it rains it pours

There was a massive storm last week in Brisbane that dropped enough small hail stones to make it look like it had snowed. Wayne has sent me down a couple of really awesome pictures of the lightening over Brisbane city.

Work, work, work...

Well it is only three weeks until we move into our new building. It is fairly hard going at the moment but I am so very very excited to be a part of it.

Deb spent the weekend working and I spent it editing JT's video. I feel a little guilty becaue I know JT is hanging out to see it and I am now so very tired of the first 15 minutes. It comes from watching the same scenes over and over and listening to same music over and over.

I hope JT will love what we have put together but it really does have to go as one whole video. So...at about 3hrs to make one minute of compiled video, I now have 15mins and 40 seconds. That is an investment of around 45 hours. Only another 150 to go. I suspect the last 30 hours or so are a complete breeze...

Anyway, must run to bed before I pass out.

*kiss* *kiss* (That's what directors do isn't it???)

Have I been slack or what!!!

Ok, you know you are not posting enough when Canadian relatives are posting to your site more often than you are! (Thanks Lan)

We are only 4 weeks away from moving into our beautiful new building and I am absolutely FLAT OUT trying to get everything done at work. To top it all off we have been swamped with our internal performance review process which as all but pushed me over the edge. With 12 hour days a fairly regular happening I am finding it pretty hard to get the free time that I really love.

On the upside it really is work that I am really enjoying and I am feeling really energised by the entire experience. I am will also be looking for a little nap when the whole thing is over.

Deb is going pretty well in her new job and they seem to really like what she is doing. Ironically enough now that she is locked into a three month contract she has job offers coming out of her 'you know what' so that can be good. The problem is that, as Deb already knew, the Publishing industry pays bugger all and the IT contract industry pays quite well. So...the decision is pretty tough. No matter how it ends up though we are hoping for something that Deb will really love doing...

We had a dinner party on the weekend to fairwell Jan & Simon, two of our best friends here in Melbourne. They are soon to jet over to the UK and try life in another hemisphere.

[From Left] Helen, Jan & Simon

Helen made us all these very cool crackers with hand made hats and everything. Jan & Simon's crackers had little australiana items which was just cute. Ours had rock candy which I am trying to stay away from but feel I may have to give in shortly.

The night was really good although I over indulged again and had to spend a very quite Sunday recovering.

Jan & Simon's daughter Isobel

Isobel was taken off to bed but she did get to chase a 'meow' around the room and watch me attempt to juggle. At least there is something that I can do to amuse children.

Finally here is a link to a puzzle that Wayne has found. I am not sure if I did it right but I did managed to solve it. It is along the same lines as the Fox, the Chicken and the Farmer" puzzle.

Here are the rules:

1. Only 2 people on the raft at a time.
2. The father cannot be alone with the daughters.
3. The mother cannot be alone with the sons.
4. The thief cannot be alone with any family member if the policeman is not present.
5. Only the Father, Mother & Policeman can drive the boat.
6. It's in japanese to click the big blue cirle to start.

A cool time waster

And the pressure is on...

Well it is official, I made it into the YLT program at work which is pretty cool. It starts the month after we get moved into Freshwater Place so I am really looking forward to finishing off one aspect and starting the next.

We have started editing JT's wedding video and it is looking pretty good at the moment. We had finished a little teaser and sent that up to JT last week. Hopefully it should arrive today. Hopefully she will like it.

I figure that it is gonna take at least a month to get the whole video cut together. Deb paid out on me for spending time getting the menus all setup but that is how I work. I have now embarked on the 'Getting Ready'section.

I wasn't feeling 100% over the weekend and took yesterday office work. I woke up at 6am thinking, 'I can make it', stood in the kitchen for 10 minutes, left a message on my bosses voicemail and went back to bed. I didn't open my eyes until 10:30am. So clearly there was something up.

I'm feeling much better today so hopefully a good day of rest was enough to shake off the bug.

Till Later
